SILVIA RODRIGUEZ AWARDED ‘MINING WOMAN OF THE YEAR’ December 6, 2019

Dr. Silvia Rodríguez (Orocobre Limited’s Shared Value Program Manager) has been distinguished with the Enrique Miguel González ‘2019 Mining Woman of the Year Award’ at Panorama Minero’s annual “Night of Distinctions” dinner.

Silvia was selected in recognition of her commitment to the mining industry, prioritising local community relationships and for tirelessly advocating the inclusion of women in the Argentinian mining sector.

After receiving the award, Silvia commented, “Receiving this award is an honor and a privilege for me. This recognition makes it clear that women have a place in mining and I believe it will encourage more women to become a valuable part of the sector. I want to share this distinction with all the women who work every day in our mining deposits and contribute to the development of the activity and the growth of our country.”

Silvia’s dialogue, transparency and communication with local communities over the past decade has resulted in high levels of mutual trust with Orocobre’s Shared Value team, and surrounding communities gaining a great understanding of the Olaroz Lithium Project.

Silvia has been vigorously promoting responsible and sustainable mining in Argentina since the early 1990s – with her passion for resource development through social investment, community engagement and participation helping drive Orocobre’s Shared Value Program to new heights.
