Sales de Jujuy S.A. (the operating company of Orocobre’s Olaroz Lithium Facility) People Development Manager Gabriela Koenig, has participated in Northern Argentina’s first Women in Business Congress – “Women Today, Overcoming Challenges” – organised by Mujeres Empresarias de Jujuy, and Grupo Empresarial de Mujeres Argentinas (GEMA).
Speaking on the panel “Regional Economies: Industries of the Future”, Gabriela spoke specifically about women in mining, outlining the policies and initiatives that Sales de Jujuy has in place to promote gender equality and equal opportunity.
She also spoke about the empowerment projects undertaken in local communities to overcome stereotypes and promote awareness of the opportunities available for women to engage in mining activities.
Gabriela commented, “Sales de Jujuy is a company committed to gender inclusion. Women’s participation in mining in Argentina is 7 percent on average. Sales de Jujuy’s workforce currently has 17 percent women, including operators, supervisors, engineers and nurses.”
