Martín Pérez de Solay


Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

Martín was appointed to the Orocobre Limited Board as Managing Director on 18 January 2019. At the same time, Martín formally commenced his duties as Chief Executive Officer (see ASX announcement dated 18 January 2019).

Martín is a qualified industrial engineer with a career spanning engineering, operational improvement, banking, finance and executive management. Prior to joining Orocobre Limited, Martín was the President and CEO of Petroleos Sudamericanos, an oil and gas producer operating in Argentina and Colombia. Martín joined Petroleos Sudamericanos in 2011 and since that time has established new operations, acquired assets, led major stakeholder management initiatives and was responsible for implementing a significant operational improvement programme responding to the falling oil price.

Prior to 2011, Martín was CFO and head of Corporate Development of GeoPark, a successful oil and gas operator with assets in Argentina and Chile. Martín was a key member of the Geopark executive team that established its asset base and subsequently listed the company on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

Martín joined Geopark from Citigroup where he had spent a decade in the institutional, corporate and restructuring activities of the bank, importantly through the difficult economic times at the turn of the century.

Martín is a qualified industrial engineer from the Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires and has completed management programmes at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard and Austral University, Argentina.

Hersen Porta


Chief Operations Officer

Hersen joined Orocobre Limited and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in September 2019. Hersen is a qualified chemical engineer graduating from Universidad Tecnológica Nacional in Rosario City, Argentina. He completed his studies when Cabot Corporation sponsored him to attend an Executive Management Program at Babson College in Massachusetts, USA. Hersen was born and educated in Argentina and has a career spanning 30 years in the chemicals industry.

With 28 years at the Dow Chemical Company, Hersen moved from initial engineering roles to site management and Operations Director roles. Since 2015 he held the role of General Manager and President of Cabot Corporation in Argentina. This wide variety of roles has provided experience not only in Argentina, but also Canada and Brazil with industry leading international companies.

Hersen has led operational excellence programs and is a leader in safety management. He has significant experience in process engineering, production, process control and quality performance. Additionally, he has been involved with the commissioning of several new plants which will be invaluable experience as the Olaroz Stage 2 Expansion is completed.

Neil Kaplan


Chief Financial Officer & Joint Company Secretary

Neil joined Orocobre Limited and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in January 2013 and Company Secretary in July 2013. Neil is a Chartered Accountant and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Company with over 25 years of experience in managerial and finance positions obtained on four different continents.

Neil’s experience in the resources sector was attained working in executive financial roles for Glencore and formerly TSX listed company Coalcorp Mining, both based in Colombia. Neil holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and is a member of both the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ) and South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

Rick Anthon


Corporate Development Manager, General Counsel & Joint Company Secretary

Rick joined Orocobre Limited in 2015. Rick is a lawyer with over 30 years’ experience in both corporate and commercial law practicing exclusively in the resource sector. He has worked both as a Director and adviser to numerous resource companies and has extensive project planning, acquisition and development, capital raising and corporate governance skills.

Andrew Barber

Andrew Barber (BSc. Hons, Grad Dip Finance & Investment)

Chief Investor Relations Officer

Andrew graduated with an Honours Degree in Science from the University of Tasmania with a major in Geology. Following graduation he commenced a seven year role with Mt Isa Mines as a geologist working on exploration, development and operational projects in northwest Queensland.

In 1997, Andrew joined Perpetual Investments in Sydney, Australia as a Resources Analyst which was the start of over eleven years in the funds management industry. He also worked with Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) in Brisbane where he covered a wide variety of industrial and resources companies.

Since 2008, Andrew has utilised his extensive experience in the equity markets combined with a solid technical base to provide investor relations, communications and business development services to a variety of companies including Arrow Energy, Bow Energy, Stanmore Coal and now Orocobre Limited.

Nicolás Martin Mordeglia

Nicolás Martin Mordeglia (BA LLB, MCL)

Chief Legal & Communications Officer

Nicolás joined Orocobre Limited in February 2019 and was appointed Chief Legal & Communications Officer.

Nicolás graduated from Facultad de Derecho of the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires in 1988 with a Law degree. He then obtained a Master in Corporate Law from the Executive Business Program at Universidad Austral. In 2002 Nicolás attended an Executive Management Business Program at Instituto de Altos Estudios of the Universidad Austral.

From 1990 to 2002 Nicolás worked in the Legal Affairs departments of several Perez Companc Group companies, including SADE Ingeniería y Construcciones S.A. (Construction), Cerro Vanguardia S.A. (Mining) and Pecom Energía S.A. (Oil & Gas and Energy). In 2003 Nicolás was appointed Legal Manager for Finance & Corporative Affairs at Petrobras Argentina S.A. He has also been appointed to several Boards of Directors and Statutory Committees in the Petrobras Argentina Group of companies, in Argentina and abroad.

From August 2010 to October 2017 he served as Legal Affairs Vice President at Transportadora de Gas del Sur S.A. (Natural Gas Transportation & LPG). During 2018 Nicolas was partner of Cordova Francos Abogados and head of infrastructure and mining.

Kate Bennett

Kate Bennett (BInSt, MIA, MBA)

Chief Sustainability Officer

Kate was appointed as Chief Sustainability Officer in 2019, having joined Orocobre Limited in 2018 to lead the development of the Company’s sustainability reporting and management framework.

Kate is a Certified Lead Auditor of Integrated Management Systems (Health & Safety, Environment, Quality). She holds a Bachelor of International Studies (Languages) from UNSW, a Master of International Affairs (Sustainable Development) from Sciences Po Paris, and an MBA from the University of Queensland. Kate is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kate has extensive experience establishing and supporting sustainability strategy, management and reporting for ASX listed entities such as Stockland, Oil Search, and Charter Hall, and in promoting sustainable development in the extractive industries globally. Kate speaks fluent Spanish and French and has a strong understanding of both corporate and operational imperatives, having conducted site-based audits and social and human rights risk assessments across Africa and the Asia-Pacific.

Kate has a strong commitment to the Latin American region, serving as Co-Founder and Director of Somos21 (Australia Latin America Professional Network) and Director of the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) for four years prior to her relocation to Argentina in 2019.

Ileana Freire

Ileana Freire (BA Sociol, MHR)

Chief Human Resources Officer

Ileana joined Orocobre Limited in 2019 and was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer. Her academic background includes a Sociology Degree and a Master in Human Resources Management from the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

Ileana has over 25 years of experience working in Human Resources. She started her career as a trainee with Unilever. Ileana has performed several managerial roles at Citibank over the past twelve years, including Compensation & Benefits, Talent Management and Business Partnering positions. She worked for 8 years at Johnson & Johnson as HR Director for the Southern Cluster and HR Business Partner for several product lines within Latin America.

In 2015 she started her career as independent consultant, developing consulting activities for several organizations such as Adidas Argentina, Pluspetrol, Telecom, Johnson & Johnson and ITBA.

Throughout her career Ileana has obtained truly diverse experience working in the definition and deployment of numerous human resources strategies. Ileana is recognised for her experience in Talent Management, Organisational Culture and Change, Reward and Recognition.
